Van Gogh: Irises Beswick have joined with Parastone, a long established Dutch art company to create these sculptured ceramic vases finished with a unique profile top edge to suit each piece of artwork. This famous Van Gogh piece was painted in 1889 and depicts a brightly coloured group of Iris flower, inspired by the Japanese woodblock prints with strong outlines and unusual angles. This piece was painted whilst in a mental asylum, as Van Gogh felt that by continuing to paint he would be kept from insanity.
